About the Artist

While finishing his PhD. In Theology, Charles McCollough began formally studying art. He was ordained as a minister in the United Church of Christ and worked as a teacher, editor, writer, and popular speaker throughout the country. All the while he studied drawing and sculpture at places such as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Princeton Art Association, the Johnson Atelier, Mercer County College, and Joe Brown's Studio.

His unique style of sculpting in clay, bronze, wood, and stone combines his progressive theology with profound and humorous images both sacred and profane. Since 2000 he works full time as a sculptor at his studio in a 19th century barn and house he and his wife, Carol, have renovated in Hopewell, New Jersey. The energy for his home, studio, gallery, and kiln comes from a solar electric system they installed.

He has published eight books; the last two are fully illustrated with his sculptures. His most recent book, "The Non-Violent Radical: Seeing and Living the Wisdom of Jesus", is available now. A related DVD is available separately from the artist. He often presents images of his work in PowerPoint presentations at conferences, seminaries, colleges, and churches.
